In recent years, many electronic information enterprises, Shanghai colleges and universities, and scientific research units have voluntarily participated in the formation of cross-departmental and cross-ownership non-profit industry associations.

The association was established in May 1989 with the approval of the Shanghai Administration of Community Organizations. On June 4, 2019, the working meeting of the Shanghai Electronic Components Industry Association was successfully held at Nantong Hornby Electronic Co., Ltd. The participants spoke enthusiastically, combined with the current market conditions, and offered suggestions for the development of the enterprise.
