TVS Diode

TVS Diodes Protect Sensitive Electronic Components from Damaging Effects of Transient Voltage

Transient voltage suppression diodes are silicon avalanche devices often chosen for their small capacitance, fast response time (low clamping voltage) and low leakage current. Transient voltage suppressors can be unidirectional or bidirectional and they are often used in ESD and circuit protection ICs.

TVS: Two modes of operation to best fit your application

Transient voltage suppressors have two different modes of operation:

Normal mode, where the device is transparent to the application (low leakage current)

Surge suppression mode, in which the overvoltage is cut off at the clamp voltage value
