Small Signal Switch Diode
Small-signal switching diodes are a class of semiconductor diodes designed and manufactured specifically for circuit “on” and “off”. It takes less time than a normal diode to switch from on to off or from off to on. Small signal switching diode from off (high resistance) to on (low resistance) is called the conduction time. The time from on to off is called the reverse recovery time. The sum of the two is called the switching time. Generally the reverse recovery time is longer than the on time, so only the reverse recovery time is given on the operating parameters of the switching diode.
